There were more refugees streaming out of the town now, and Daniel joined a group heading south, away from the fires. Away was the only thing on their mind and instinctively started to drift in-land away from the water and the dragons that lived there. They wandered through the burial grounds at Falsgrave taking rest by the wooden chapel. They did not say much, no one knew the answer to any of the questions anyway and getting as far away as possible was implied. They pressed on, south and west, away.

The garrison was torched. Quicker to burn them than fight them. They gathered hundreds of horses to form a cavalry force to pillage down the coast. The horsemen would stay in sight of the fleet and signal if they encountered danger on shore. They pulled their boats off the shingles in the flickering light of the inferno. A massive pillar of smoke could be seen long after they rounded the next headland. Riders were mounted and unleashed on the countryside. Riding south with the fleet, following roads as best they could, burning and raiding whatever they came across. They encountered refugees along the road, but soon got tired of chasing them. They were of no value or importance anyway. The objective was to terrorise, and it was a lot easier attacking and burning a stationary target like a farm or a village than chase down quarry.
